Susan Demeter is a Canadian born author, artist, witch. The themes of her writing, research, art and spirituality incorporate her lifelong interest in exceptional human experiences, UFOs, nature, social history, mysteries, and cosmic magic.
Susan’s first solo book Cosmic Witch: Magic Witchcraft and the Supernatural was published in both English and Italian as The Witch – La Strega in August 2020. Since 2010 Susan has conducted an ongoing series of individual and group experiments based on and inspired by the work of the late mathematician A.R.G Owen and psychotherapist Joel Whitton popularly known as “The Philip Experiments” which will be the focus of her forthcoming book tentatively titled Out of My Mind’s Eye: Conjuring UFOs
She is a co-creator and magickal consultant of the Ufology Tarot deck This tarot uses the 22 Major Arcana cards for learning and personal reflection based on the historical figures of Ufology.
Susan has conducted scholarly research on behalf of the Defence Studies Department of the Canadian Armed Forces College in Toronto, Canada on the topic of UFOs, and for the Koestler Parapsychology Unit at the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland regarding poltergeist activity.
The author’s writing, and research have been featured in a number of publications, and she is a contributing essayist to Dr. Jack Hunter’s groundbreaking Deep Weird: The Varieties Of High Strangeness Experience and UFOs: Reframing the Debate. Susan explores the subject of UFOs through the lenses of scientific parapsychology and towards an experimental model of conjuring. Susan has actively investigated spook-lights in both Canada and her adopted home Italy, including in field work as an independent boots-on-the-ground UFO researcher.
In 2015 she collaborated on “I See Words, I Hear Voices”, a major art exhibit at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto, on the themes of exceptional human experiences, anomalies, and marginalization. Susan’s alien themed art was featured as a finalist in the 2021 Making Contact Art exhibition.
Demeter’s professional titles include editor, writer, researcher, webmaster, content manager, database administrator, copy editor, technical consultant on various paranormal subjects, social media manager and producer.
As a technical consultant and segment producer Susan has contributed to various media projects, including print, electronic, broadcast radio, film and television. In addition to this she has been a regular on-air guest contributor to Toronto’s CFRB Mind Shift with host, the late Errol Bruce Knapp. She worked with June Media as a segment producer and research assistant for the syndicated Canadian television documentary series Creepy Canada.
Since 1999 Susan has been featured in print, radio and television media speaking on magick, witchcraft, exceptional human experiences, anomalies, UFOs, ghosts, and other paranormal subjects. Her public speaking engagements are varied, and include presentations on witchcraft, folklore, spooklights, and other anomalies for the Ontario Institute For Studies & Education, and the University of Toronto. Susan has been a member of various study groups including the Society For Psychical Research, the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena, and is a co-founder of PSICAN: Paranormal Studies and Inquiry Canada.
She has developed and maintained a number of websites, and blogs both as a self interest and professionally. And set up and maintained a number of successful companion social media profiles and online communications for the purpose of information hubs, and as a recruiting tool for historical re-enactment groups.
Sister, auntie, mother of three badass goddesses, and fiercely proud Oma of Jack. Susan lives with her husband and two cats in an ancient villa in the Apennine Mountains where her home studio looks out towards a mountain peak that was considered to be a holy place by both the Pagans and early Christians who lived in the area. It is there where the ultra-terrestrials inspire her experiments, studies, witchcraft and art.
